Wildekrans Country House
traditional Elgin Valley country house
ELGIN VALLEY ACCOMMODATION AT IT'S BEST
This historical Elgin Valley accommodation establishment (Elgin is Alison’s place of birth), called Alison and husband Barry back home to Elgin from Johannesburg in 1999, where they took ownership of Wildekrans Country House. And because of their influence and passion for people and great service, the historical Wildekrans guest house today, offers an unsurpassed Elgin accommodation experience. This includes both serviced and self-catering accommodation options. Wildekrans Country House was an early inheritance from Alison’s father who wished to pass on his Elgin heritage in person.
Named after the “wild cliffs” at the bottom of the rambling garden, this early period Elgin Valley farm named Wildekrans, dates back to 1811. At first Wildekrans chiefly served as a family homestead on a working farm in the quaint Houw Hoek valley of Elgin, later also offering accommodation to travellers passing through from Cape Town to the Overberg and eastern frontier. The traditional Cape Dutch architecture countered by a contemporary South Africa art collection offers a city energy with a country soul, while the Houw Hoek Mountains make for a dramatic signature Elgin Valley backdrop.
When resting here, you experience life with all five senses just a little more deeply – in true Elgin Valley style.
