Blue Mountain Trail itinerary

P.S you’ll be happy to hear that this is the profile of the mountain and not the trail.

While we highly recommend that our clients first walk our flagship four day Green Mountain Trail (55km), we also offer this three day Blue Mountain Trail and a two day Weekend Walking experience.

The Blue Mountain Trail starts with check in on a Monday afternoon at 15h00 and check out on a Thursday after lunch. As this is a working farm experience, the trail takes place on week days so hikers get the full experience. Wide open spaces, daily wine tasting, knowledgeable guides and overnights at Wildekrans Country House makes this another bucket list experience in the Green Mountain collection.

Day 1: Walk from Bot River into the Elgin Basin (15,3km / 6-7hours / 3lod*)

  • Collect packed breakfast, fruit & snacks, and fill water bottles at Wildekrans Country House.
  • Transfer to Bot River.
Walk from and above Bot River through fynbos, taking in views of the wheat fields of the Overberg, and descend into the Elgin Basin.
  • Picnic breakfast on the mountain.
  • Wine tasting over lunch in the Elgin Valley.
  • Transfer back to Wildekrans Country House and enjoy afternoon tea in the garden.
  • Dinner & overnight.

  • Wine tasting and snack in Bot River if time permits.
  • Transfer back to Wildekrans Country House.
  • Dinner & overnight.

  • Collect packed breakfast, fruit and snacks, and fill water bottles at Wildekrans Country House.
  • Transfer to Kogelberg buffer on Elgin South side.
  • Walk through farms and fynbos alongside Palmiet River.
  • Picnic breakfast.
  • Lunch and wine tasting at Almenkerk Wine Estate to celebrate mission accomplished.
