Luxury Slackpacking Trail in the Western Cape
The Green Mountain Trail is a bucket list 60km slackpacking trail in the Western Cape region of South Africa. It is because of the home cooked meals, local wine tastings, transfers, trained mountain guides and overnight luxury accommodation at Wildekrans Country House that the Green Mountain Trail recently received the Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice – Best of the Best award.
This slackpacking adventure entails a guided hiking route which traverses private Elgin Valley and Houw Hoek farms which are committed to conservation in the Overberg and the responsible sharing of these special spaces in South Africa.
Having worked with mountain hiking enthusiasts for more than ten years, Alison has seen the powerful healing affects the natural surroundings have on visitors.
A brief history
The Green Mountain Trail was founded in 2007 – Born out of a passion for the Houw Hoek Mountains and the outdoors and an affinity to Alison’s younger days biking and hiking across the globe. Followed by hiking the Groenlanberg with Dr. Paul Clüver.
